Havertys Furniture - Haverty's has outrageous delivery fees.
We recently purchased a stock item sectional sofa at Haverty's, Hilton Head, SC. It was not until after we paid for the item in full and returned to our home in NY that we took a closer look at our receipt.
They charged $129 for delivery and set up to deliver the item to our new home ten miles away. We were not told this up front and when we returned to the store to ask for a reduction, we were told that other stores just build it into their prices and that 10% is about standard delivery charge. Based on that theory, $5000 worth of furniture would carry a $500 delivery charge! They would not reduce this and we did not cancel our delivery as we had built most of our design of the room around this piece of furniture.
However, in checking, other local stores charge substantially less for delivery of items at an even longer distance.
We will not visit this store again. They are not as upfront as they claim and not at all willing to work with you.
Location: Staten Island, New York

I will wait until they are having a sale with free delivery or shop elsewhere
You have to agree to the charges before you sign off while you are in the store. If you think the delivery charges are high, why wouldn't you just pick your items up?
Oh, because that would involve manpower, gas and time. Suck it up cupcake, it wasn't Havertys fault, you have a responsibility to verify charges before you pay!......Look in the mirror and own up to your own mistakes.
Way to show maturity...cupcake
Haverys raised their delivery fees AGAIN ! High time to BOYCOT Havertys.
Never arrive within the delivery time windows. Customer service hang up when you try to talk to them. We have had several exchanges with broken furniture. Will not be going back to Havertys for the rest of our furniture.
Stressful experience. The store manager in Winter Garden store did not care about resolving problems only made excuses.
I work at a Haverty's in Florida. We inform everyone on the delivery price.
I'm sorry no one told you about it. And as far as the delivery being 10% of the furniture cost. That's incorrect.
The most I've seen delivery, was for a 50k sale. It was only 399.00 I think, the sales people at that store, need to be retrained.
We just went to Havertys in Atlanta Ga and we were told $599 deliver fee. We have been buying furniture for 40 years and never paid more than $99.
We walked out on a $20,000 sale and that was just what we needed right away, buying furniture for entire home. Havertys lost a sale over a delivery charge.
You must be an employee. We were at the store this past weekend and the sales manager said all the delivery charges were raised again this past month. We went to Ashleys and they waived our delivery.
Our store manager always tells us Buyers are Liars. Customers want everything at Big Lot prices so go there to buy furniture and then rent a truck to take it home.
I agree with what your saying but the price of fuel has shot up and so does everything else. The reason that other stores have a lower cost to deliver is that the furniture is cheaper thus not as much cost goes into it....Wow.. :sigh
Purchased our leather sectional at Macys. Nice looking and top grain leather. It doesnโt look cheap.
Havertys had a sectional supposed to be leather all peeling apart. Sales guy told us our wont look like that.
It is also shipped from china. Lets be real about Havertys cheap leather coming from China.
That's weird..we paid $129 for over $3000 worth of furniture
You would pay 249 now since they raised their delivery prices February 2018. According to our salesperson they added an extra truck which resulted in the raise of delivery passed on to the customer.
Too bad every piece of the Arden Ridge dining set delivered was damaged.
We canceled our purchase and got a refund. We purchased at another store.
Agree- Feathers will come out, cushions will go flat. The "Made In China" syndrome................
It is true that many companies build the cost of delivery into the merchandise cost itself.
Havertys' higher ups like it to be sold seperate as they get 100% profit on the delivery charge itself as the furniture markup already covers the cost of warehouse personel, delivery guys, etc.
Being that you are in South Carolina - you probably had to pay tax on delivery also so you actually paid $139 or so for delivery. Squeeze every dime out of a customer - the Havertys way.
Welcome to Havertys - good luck getting customer service when your cushions go flat in under 6 months - ie "normal wear and tear" at Havertys.
We had the same happen to our corey sectional we received before Christmas. Tech said it was normalwear and tear and seam separation is not covered.
Called Guardsman and they denied clsim saying it was a manufacter flaw and store responsibilty. We will never go back to Havertys again. Useless customer service , rude management.
Lost $3450. Of hard earned money to a bunch if theives.
